UP CLOSE: BETA MOTORCYCLES MY21 RR RANGE

BETA 300 RR

Beta Motorcycles are one of the first to announce their 2021 Enduro lineup and we are pretty happy about it. The main difference you will notice is the return to the Italian red colour scheme, instantly transforming these new models into something enticing. The white didn’t really work. But there is more than just a new colour palette.

BETA 350 RR

Beta Motorcycles have been one of the first motorcycle manufacturers to release the details of their 2021 Enduro range. The Italian brand, who have recently opened up the factory again after their Covid-19 shutdown have concentrated on subtle tweaks and refinements for 2021. 2020 saw nearly all-new models hit showroom floors so it was a surprise that there was any updating this year.

But with Beta claiming the 2019 E1 and E3 World Enduro Championship, it seems that the company didn’t want to rest on their side-stands and trickled down updates from their championship winning team and bikes.

We tested out the 2020 line up from beta and were impressed with the new bikes and the direction the company was going. The jury is still out on the ZF forks though. You can read about that HERE.

BETA 250 RR

Changes for MY21 are mostly tuning updates, with a lot of focus going into the ZF forks, upgrading of numerous internal components to further improve fluidity and reliability. The other obvious change is the switch back to Italian red for the plastics and look, which gets a huge thumbs up from us. The white didn’t really get the two-stroke mixing.

For the four-stroke line up, Beta do their own thing, using 350, 390, 430 & 490 engine displacements. Not your usual cc ratings and this can make it difficult when choosing the correct cc for your needs - for example the 390 & 430 - what to choose. If you think of it this way. The 350 is their version of the ‘small-bore’ bike, which the 430 is their version of the 450. From there you should be able to make easier decisions.

BETA 450 RR

When it comes to two-strokes, Beta run the list with all the options. 125, 200, 250 & 300 cc rated engine packages. Beta are also the only manufacturer still making a 200cc two-stroke, widely known as the best all-round cc rating for the masses.

Here is what to expect from each model

RR 2T 125
The smallest bike in the Beta range, it is the lightest and easiest to handle. In pure racing style, it is suitable for both young riders coming up from the lower categories and more expert riders looking for a fun bike.

RR 2T 200
The chassis set-up and engine derived from its smaller sibling, ensuring it’s extremely light weight and excellent handling but with decidedly greater torque and power. Oil injection and an electric starter complete the package which is perfect for Enduro enthusiasts.

RR 2T 250
Ideal for those looking for a gentler 2-stroke bike with slightly less power and torque than top-of-the-range models to ensure excellent handling.

RR 2T 300
Made for those who appreciate a big engine with significant torque at any speed. Suitable for those who favor long gearing.

RR 4T 350
This is the easiest-to-handle bike in the 4-stroke model range; it favors high-rev riding yet retains a very linear power output.

RR 4T 390
With an ideal handling to power ratio, its winning feature lies in its outstanding traction.

RR 4T 430
A high-performance engine that is at its best when the rider exploits the long gearing and significant torque.

RR 4T 480
This bike best expresses itself in wide open spaces. Its characteristics are similar to the 430 model but with even greater torque and power, suitable for more expert and physically fit riders

No pricing is yet available for NZ but the bikes are due this side of pond around August with the X-Trainer due earlier in July.
