PRODUCT REVIEW: MOTOMUCK CLEANER
What could be better than not having to clean your bike ever again? Imagine it, right! Well, sadly this isn’t quite it but she’s pretty damn close. Minimal effort - maximum shine...that's Motomuck in a nutshell.
To get a real feel for what Motomuck has become, let us take a step back in time and do some research on the beginnings of Motomuck, thanks to www.motomuck.co.nz.
Motomuck was started by Hylton Pause in 2009, after being frustrated by not being able to find a cleaner good enough for his beloved vehicles. “There was a lot of testing and our original Motomuck Cleaner eventually became the product I had been looking for” Explains Hylton Pause - Motomuck founder.
“The rest of the family were roped in and put to work in the manufacturing, bottling, packaging and delivering, all from the garage in the family home! Motomuck is wholly NZ developed, and now operates in bigger premises with bases in Auckland and Brisbane”
Motomuck is currently endorsed by multiple NZ World Champions, iconic rally drivers, professional speedway racers, NZ Offroad Champions and many other NZ motorsport champions. Motomuck also have over 300 other competitors that are supported via the sponsorship program - which you have a chance to get yourself onto by clicking HERE.
Now you know some background, here is what the process is according to the motomuck website.
Step one
● Spray on over entire bike, wet or dry dirt. If you hosed off excessive dirt, leave a few minutes to drip dry before applying as water can form a dilution barrier on the surface.
● Use a brush only on excessively stubborn old dirt and on places where dirt has baked onto the exhaust.
Step two
● Leave to soak in for 5-10 minutes, allowing Motomuck Original Cleaner to penetrate through the dirt to the surface of your steed.
Step three
● Spray off with a jet of water and watch the muck fall off.
The Dirt
Sounds pretty easy and in essence it actually is, but maybe not verbatim as stated above. Having used Motomuck for the better part of a decade now, we have learnt the best ways to use it and we will share that with you now. But make no mistake - you should be using it.
Our Step one
● Put the bike on the stand and pressure wash the enture bike getting off as much dirt and muck as possible. Let the bike dry for about 10 minutes as applying when soaking wet can form a dilution barrier on the surface.
● Use a brush only on excessively stubborn old dirt and on places where dirt has baked onto the exhaust.
Step two
● Leave to soak in for 10 minutes, allowing Motomuck to penetrate through the dirt to the surface of your steed.
Step three
● Spray off with a jet of water and watch the muck fall off.
So ok, not a shit load of difference in the process but we definitely recommend washing the bike first to get the best results. At a pinch you can clean you bike with a hose if you don’t have a pressure washer and it will work pretty well actually. But for best results use a water blaster for sure. You might get the brush out the first few times you start using Motomuck but get a month deep and you could just about throw your brush away as the more you use it the better your bike seems to look after a clean.
Your gateway product is the 1 Litre of Motomuck Original Cleaner. This bottle comes with its own Pro trigger sprayer which is fantastic. After that all you have to do is buy something like the 5L ‘refill’ and top up your spray bottle.
