UPDATE: HAMISH MACDONALD WINS GERMAN TITLE
The final two German Championship races of the year just wrapped up in Rudersdorf, about 1 hour from Berlin. The Kiwi Sherco rider cleaned up and scored the 2020 German Enduro Championship title.
Having ridden this track in 2018, my debut year in the World Championship, I knew it was going to be a good race. In 2018 I hadn't really liked the test, but his year was completely different. Three days of rain leading up to the event and consistent rain all weekend made for challenging conditions. The tests were what I would call proper enduro tests, 10 minutes of slippery exposed roots and loads of rock and logs - I was happy to say the least!
Saturday started off slow loosing some time, a little problem with the mapping on the bike, but we got that sorted and moved on to push in the second lap. I managed to find my groove and pull the lead back, continuing onto the 3rd lap and winning by a good margin. By Day two the track had deteriorated rapidly and proved to be a tough day! One line you had to charge and not lose your balance in the deep never ending ruts. I set the fasted times all day and wrapped up the German championship with 6 from 6 starts!
It’s been a great time in Germany. Big thanks to Marcus Kehr and Sven for preparing my bike, and to the rest of the guys from Sherco Germany. We’ve raced hard pack, sand, and mud and my Sherco SER-F300 never skipped a beat once! Now onto Portugal and the World Enduro GP rounds.
Thanks to all,
Hamish Macdonald #76
